07:30 We woke up after a very good nights sleep for our last day in Oman. Our flight was at 18:20 so we had to be in the airport at 16:50. We had breakfast and filled out a few postcards. We then had to drive over and get the car washed since we did not want a 200$ fine!!!! Car washes are about 1.600 OR for large oversized 4WD's. We stopped at the hotel for a bathroom stop (love that stomach virus) and headed over to see the nature reserve but it only opens at 4pm when it cools down a bit. On the way, I saw something very interesting, a camouflaged cell phone antennae. The Omani's hide antenna in artificial palm trees that look very realistic. We went back to the hotel (restrooms again...) and then to the Omani museum (another one) that is up on the hillside behind the hotel.

The Oman National Museum was a pain to find but once we did find it, we were happy. We were following the map, making u-turns, more u-turns and generally getting frustrated. Maggie swears I was the only one yelling and cursing but given my docile nature, I find that to be unfair! We had a man, we think the manager or most senior person, show us around the whole place once we got there. They were preparing for their first temporary exhibition so the place was a bit out of order but he showed us everything, explained history and how the water is moved around, complete with displays (the Falaj), and made sure all our questions were answered. He even told us some folk tales and local traditions. He was very interested in what we though of Oman, especially since we were foreigners that lived in another gulf country. After the museum, we headed back to the hotel for a restroom stop (surprise huh?) and then went to turn in our car. The turn in was a breeze and only tool a few minutes. We got a taxi with "Ahmed" an Omani who is learning English and had a lively conversation with him. Ahmed is very proud of Oman and what the Sultan has done. He is eager to tell you about the sights and makes a good guide! If you are in Muscat and need a good, honest driver, call Ahmed at 926 9727 and tell him that Anton & Maggie, the American and Hungarian sent you! We lounged around the hotel pool and bar until 3 or so and then headed to the room to grab our bags (already packed) and checkout, and then go to the airport. Anton stubbed his little toe really bad on a suitcase as we were moving the luggage out. After cursing a bit and yelling, he turned around and did it a second time. We were a bit behind schedule now so we checked out and headed for the airport. Anton thought he broke the toe the second time and about 15 minutes into the flight it was confirmed, as black rings started forming around his little toe. The foot was swollen up pretty good by the time we landed but there was little to do on the plane.

Back in Doha, Anton headed to the emergency room for his broken toe and stomach problems-that is another story but suffice it to say that one does not want to get ill and have to use the public medical care in Qatar.
