Algamel is almost fully standing which makes it a bit eerie |

The walls built in traditional fashion, have just started collapsing |
Maggie and Peter were running around and took a load of still photos. |

The village must have been very picturesque in its heyday as it is right on the water. |

DSCF0031.JPG After Algamel, we headed mostly along the beach towards Al Ruwais. We saw some very large lizards we thought were Iguanas but locals later said they are something else :-) |
Al Ruwais is the Northern most settlement and site of the Al Ruwais Maritime Station. There is a coastal patrol station here etc.
|
|
The Patrol station provides rescue capability for this area of the gulf. |
Al Ruwais is heavily dependent on fishing. |
Here Maggie spotted a lizard so large we saw it from the moving Land Rover at about 150 meters... |
I naturally jumped out and chased it for photos.-See yellow speck in middle |
See the yellow-This is him/her from the back at several feet. This is about the time I started thinking about what something THIS LARGE finds to eat out here. |
...on noticing my toes sticking out my sandals, I also decided next time I would select shoes that were a little more "protective!" |
