These are pictures of us with our friends from England, David and Lucy. They came to visit in early/mid December an hoped to experience some of the cold weather and snow that the region we live in is known for. During their visit we discovered that the local pharmacy thermometer stops at -16 degrees (C). The night before we were at the Castle Neu Schwanstein and it got down to minus 24.5 (C). Even the coach that was to take us back down from the Castle stopped running so we had to walk. It snowed plenty so they got to see some beautiful snow fall though. Unfortunately, the snow did not stop falling! 4 days after they left, 60,000 people traveling for Christmas were stranded in heavy snowfall that closed the autobahns! These photos are taken from the Fortress overlooking Salzburg in Austria. The fortress is used for holding classical concerts and musical events these days and is well known form Mozart concerts since Mozart grew up in the town below.
