Critters in New Hampshire, Fall 2009
Some photos of critters in New Hampshire that
were seen, trapped, or hunted during 2009.

Anton did not manage to put an arrow in this guy but he did get 2 of his kin!

didn't get this guy either (2 tags in NH unfilled, 2 filled)

Tasty eating, NH Button Buck (year old male), Taken by Bow and Arrow
This NH Black Bear is on Antons hit-list for next season. He is 400lbs + but in Bow and arrow only zone so it will no-doubt be an exciting hunt! This bear when dressed out, can provide over 200 lbs of meat. (photo from a landowner in area)

Another year old buck Anton intended to transform into sausage and Tenderloin steaks for the grill...

Love it when a plan comes together... taken by Bow and Arrow.

A Fisher that I indended to catch-he had been eating the kittys at
some friends of ours house/neighborhood

Bad Fisher-no more kitty cats for you! Yes, they look cute HOWEVER-they are from the Mustalid family (weasel, Mongoose, Otter, etc.) and while they look "cute," this one ate the beaver leg (2 lbs) that I had in the cage including the fur and a bone the size of the bone in my thumb! On the drive home in the back of the Subaru, he even growled at the cars next to me at a red light! Cute looking=Maybe, Mean Predator=Definitely. After catching this guy, I found there was another-trap is set for her.
Fishers, much like Otters are misunderstood-Otters are real cute floating on their back eating mussels and fish until you watch one rip through a beaver lodge in the dead of a New England Winter and eat the inhabitants. Suddenly "cute" is far from your mind and killing scenes from the movie "terminator" are somehow more appropriate. Think of a Tasmanian Devil on crack who hasn't eaten in a week and your pretty much on track with Fishers and Otters. Look closely at the claws on the Fisher above and you will note these are not made for digging.

Beaver trapped that was flooding a neighborhood (had flooded several basements already). Here with Caden on the right and landowner son on left, Traps in foreground

Caleb is pictured center. Caleb (14) went on a "hunt of a lifetime" sponsored by Safari Club International and guided by local NH Guides providing their time-we have an SCI Chapter here in New Hamphire. Caleb has Leukemia. Caleb took this New Hampshire Bull Moose weighing NINE HUNDRED and TWENTY POUNDS with a single shot from his rifle! Spread on the antlers was 57 inches and the shot was take from 175 yards!

A Loon near lake Umbagog on a tributary river.

One of 13 stinkers trapped at our place and our neighbors (2 houses) in ONE SEASON-Actually, January-August. There are too many skunks in our area!

Someone said we don't have racoons in our backyard-I beg to differ!

Maine Mountain Turkey
1 1/2 hours of calling to drag this longbeard up the mountain. In the end, he came a runn'in. Single Shot New England Firearms (NEF) 12 Gauge turkey gun with single bead sights put him on the dinner table

Moose, Northern NH, 2009 while camping - we saw 10 Moose in a single day while up North.
In 2009, Caden caught just about every fish they have
in the state from Trout to Pickerel

Red Spotted Newts in the backyard
