Partnach Gorge
Partnach gorge is located near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in Southern Bavaria. Maggie and I hike through the gorge on many of our wanderings. Some of the photos are take by just aiming the camera "up" so if you are confused as to the angle, that is why. For some technical and geographical/historical information see below!
History and other tidbits of the Partnach Klamm (gorge)
The gorge is 2,305 ft in length and the walls climb up to about 2634 feet. There is one bridge over the gorge (223 feet high) that was built in 1913 when the path was first established. The gorge floods often during the snow melt and is fed directly from the alps which rise up behind the gorge. The original trail through the gorge was established for logging but now it is an established tourist destination. If you are a member of one of the European Alpine Associations, bring your membership card since you get a big discount on entry.
