Caden Antal Umberto Kaska

Baptism, 28 August 2005

Chiesa Parrocchiale dei Santi Ippolito e Cassiano

Luvinate-Italy

Our close friends, Umberto and Mariangela were gracious enough to honor us by being the Godparents for Caden. We travelled at the end of August 2005 to their family home in northern Italy where Caden was Baptised in Luvinate on the 28th. We stayed with them and their two beautiful children (Elisa and Stafano) throughout and had a great time enjoying the hospitality. The ceremony and reception were beautiful and could not have been more perfect.

Umberto and Mariangela put so much work into the planning and preparation it is unimaginable. To start with, we required permission since we lived elsewhere (the Middle East) and were not members of the local Parish. Permission was granted after approval from Milan and we were on our way. They found a bilingual priest (Father Michael) and then proceeded to prepare the liturgy, etc. that you find throughout the website. They prepared these in English and Italian, and arranged for close friends to perform the various readings. The ceremony was performed in adherence to the local traditions and the rites were the Ambrosian rites which vary slightly from normal Roman Catholic rites. The ceremony was attended by our two families, Magdalena's Mother, and some close friends of Umberto and Mariangela (very nice friends!)

The three of us will never forget the efforts our friends went to in assuring that Cadens Baptism came off without a hitch, perfectly! Thank you again Umberto, Mariangela, Elisa, and Stefano

We were lucky that "Father Michael," who spoke English, was visiting from Uganda at the time!
